I want to share some photos from one of my favourite couple’s wedding day L + S at Cardross Estate, Port of Menteith.
To this day I still can’t believe our luck with the weather, it was a beautiful day. The sun shone on the lawn where the ceremony was going to take place. Gazebos were being set up in preparation for the reception. If you’re Scottish or have lived in Scotland for a period of time you will understand the stress that can come with planning an outdoor wedding. However, our prayers were answered that day!
The wedding was so relaxed, guests gathered around a giant fur tree as the vows were said and then we headed off for some photos around the grounds of the venue.
The vibrant colour of the stunning manor house which was our backdrop stood out amazingly against the summer blue sky. So we took advantage of our location massively.
Check out some of these photo below for just a small insight into the day.
Michelle + Joseph
Now, for many couples the pandemic left them feeling disheartened that their dream wedding wasn’t going to be what they envisioned. The idea of having only immediate family and friends was the reality of it.
For Michelle and Joseph they embraced it! It has to be one of my most memorable weddings I have attended. From bridal prep, that was so relaxing and enjoyable, through to the ceremony and speeches, it felt so intimate and warm (even although it was November).
When the surprise video messages came up during the reception you could feel the love in the room. Family and friends from as far as the States shared their love and congratulation with the couple it goes to show love prevails.
Their venue, Lochside House Hotel, sits over-looking Loch of the Lowes. You couldn’t find a more suited location and I must say the staff went above and beyond to make the day special for Michelle and Joseph.
Ok now, you ought to know I’m a bit dog obsessed so when I heard that their puppy Ajax was going to be there I was having a party in my head whilst trying to be as professional as possible. We took a stroll to the lodges after the meal and just before the sun set to include Ajax in the wedding photos.
Down On The Farm
Oh boy! Did I have fun on this bridal shoot?
The answer is yes, myself and my model, Zuzanna, had a cracking afternoon spent with all sorts of farm animals at Netherfield Alpaca Farm, Coalburn.
So you may be thinking, why the heck alpacas? Well… why not they are a perfect additional to any wedding reception, big or small. They are so friendly and no they don’t spit (well they didn’t at me). During the first lockdown I really wanted to get creative and push beyond my comfort zone. Working with animals isn’t easy but the results are unique, fun and damn cute.
After creating this content it really confirmed in my head what direction I wanted to take my wedding business. Its easy to say your a wedding photographer but keep in mind you have to be suited to your couple as well, I will be with you the majority of the day so we should really get along and have things in common.
I’m not worried about a bit of dirt, I can certainly work in challenging environments and I love to get creative. These qualities draw me closer to my lovely couples who are so down to earth, love to be outdoors and enjoy a bit of adventure.
If you LOVE my work (you really have to LOVE it) then get in touch with me, lets have a chat and see what amazing images we can create. Whether your newly engaged, planning your wedding or celebrating an anniversary.
